Gotta go with the conventional wisdom here.  The old school Harleys
and Indians looked good as bobbers, because they were big, beefy and
overdone.  So minimalizing the underlying design actually enhanced
their lines, for the most part.

Metric bikes are already pretty minimal to start with, so bobbing them
is kinda like shearing a sheep dog -- y' generally wind up with a
really ugly lookin' mutt.

The few metric bobbers I've seen that I'd consider pleasing to the eye
began life as Harley clones.  Middleweight metric standards lend
themselves better to the cafe racer style, in my opinion.
