As I tell my wife ...jokingly... I'm sticking to the BITTER END. LOL You will have to get your own bikes.

Not because of the pain, but because I have no idea where the money is,

I wouldn't be able to survive anyway ;-)

There is an old saying "You can't hitch a Mule to an Ox." They will just
go around in a circle. In a good marriage you work together and respect each

control, when they are married to someone who resents being controlled. It
is bad news and hurt feeling all around. Be thankful you have a good
marriage. There is more than just money and reason, to coming to a consensus
on purchases.

Who wants what gets worked out before the month begins. We allocate blow
money for eachother too. How you spend your blow money is entirely up to
you, that's why it's called "blow money". I like to let mine pile up and
purchase large items, she likes to blow hers the first wknd of every month at the mall. We can't criticize the other though. I'm not saying that buying the bike was a bad purchase, but if this is something the guy does then set
aside $1000 in a column for bike projects. When he sells one it can go
towards the next project. No budget is perfect for everyone, but
communication prior to large purchases is what keeps blow ups like this from
happening.

<Soapbox id='Budget'>
Were the happy couple operating on a joint account with a written budget
this situation could have never arisen, propensities towards drama or not. Agree on the budget before the month begins, then pinky swear not to break the budget during the month. Regardless of whether or not it can be flipped tomorrow for $2,000, if the $800 initial purchase isn't already set aside,
it can't happen. Thus nobody is surprised, worried about how to pay the
electric bill, or pissed off. If my "little missus" spent 800 unallocated dollars I'd be equally hot. If they were previously allocated I would have
no grounds what-so-ever to be upset. If it's a surprise opportunity then
both parties need to come together to reallocate funds. Both deciding that
it's a good idea and which category is going to be $800 short.
</Soapbox>

Thus is the magic of a written budget. As Ron says, working together
rather than against each other. Sorry for ruining all the fun ;)

OK, OK, some marriage counseling is necessary. If you are not working
together you are working apart. Marriage that works is a marriage that
is a
giving of yourself to your spouse to make the other happy. When that

and
feelings bad things can happen, and certainly not a fulfilling joy

marriage. I would rather have one motorcycle and a happy wife, than 10
motorcycles and a sucky marriage. Building respect and trust in my
relationship with my wife, has overcome her fears, and allowed me to buy
motorcycles. If his Harley neighbor took the time to explain it to his
wife, that he was going to make some money on the deal, it could have
led to
a wild night with his wife. Just saying.
