This is a problem with the two plugs from the ignition switch that mount to the back of the fuse box. They may be beyond repair and you'll need a new (used) switch. You may be able to get them out and clean the contacts and be OK. be sure to use dielectric grease when reassembling. This has happened to me twice. I'd be riding along and the bike would just shut off. I'd reach up and wiggle the wires at the back of the fuse box and the thing would come back to life. After replacing the switch and fuse box (in my case, it was burned pretty well) all has been well for some time.
