To my knowledge both the kill switch and the kickstand are ground interrupt 
switches for the coil. Do you have a wiring diagram? Do you get lights, or 
nothing at all? A detailed list of what works and what doesn't would help us 
figure out your bike's issue.

its an 83
i thought about the kill switch connections allen. but it doesnt seem to apply 
since the kill switch only grounds the coil and lets the bike turn on. actually 
i think the neutral safety swtich works the same way but i do that so seldomly 
tht i cant remember if it turns the whole bike off
