The GPS I'm going to be using on my trip is a Garmen Nuvi. It definitely goes into update mode if you plug it into a laptop, but for the first time I plugged it into my wall charger for my cell and it happily started charging. I'd never done that before.
That still doesn't prove that 2 USBs will be fine on my 12V outlet on my bike, but it's a step in the right direction.
