AF for tank cleaning I have had good results from "Evaporust" which isn't an acid so you don't have to worry about eating a hole in the tank. I'm going to try electrolosis on one this spring. That process uses washing powder in water a sacrificial piece of steel and a trickle charger. I'll post results when I do it but that actually converts the rust back to steel. Even if you don't have a rusty tank consider flushing it with acetone to get all the old varnish out, acetone will also remove previous tank sealers like kreem. If you use acetone in the tank remove the petcock or it will melt the pickup filter.
