Update: The Jb weld has held for about 50 miles. New exhaust gaskets are in place. Had to drill the stud hole out quite a bit more. Stop, try to thread, back to drilling. Rinse and repeat about ten times. I got the tap to thread and then the stud. It was a little off. After wrestling with my pipes for a half hour (I once read putting our exhaust back on the bike is like wrestling an octopus, too true) I then had to drill out the flange for the new stud. Not only because it was a 7mm instead of a 6 but it was off. I chewed that flange on and off for around an hour before it slipped over the new stud and old stud. The new exhaust gaskets pushed the headers away from the cylinder head quite a bit and threading the old nuts on the studs was time consuming. I got everything bolted back up and fired the old gal back to life. After 2 weeks on the nose of being unable to enjoy the last few weeks of riding season, so far, I'm back on the road. 50 miles and still no leak. Flange is holding strong.
