On my left hand side, the pipe is glowing ever so slightly after some hard
riding. I only notice it at night in the dark, but it's definetly a new problem
since I replaced the carb boots, air filter, exhaust pipes, all at the same
time. BTW, the thread regarding the exhaust studs was the only thing that kept
me from pushing this bike off a cliff, as I had to drill out the studs, tap new
ones, insert helicoils and finally tighten these bastards down. I don't think
I've sworn as much at an inanimate object my entire life combined as I did
during that project.
I've read that it might be runing too lean? But I've also read that it might be
a timing issue. I have other reasons to believe the timing is somewhat
retarded. Where are the points and where is the timing on this bike? What kind
of time and how many rusty bolts will I have to fight with to adjust it? If
it's a lot of work and head scratching it might wait till winter.
