Hi all, I am looking for some troubleshooting advice on a beautiful (factory red/black) '84 cb700sc that I purchased last September. I used it all last year as a commuter bike (I know.. I would probably have been better off getting something smaller and newer but I couldn't resist) and have been doing all of the maintenance myself. I recently have been having trouble with starting the bike and am trying to get it up to snuff in preparation for good riding weather here in the northwest.
As far as symptoms go, There is occasionally just no reaction whatsoever when I hit The ignition. The battery is fine, the kill switch is in the right position, and the starter also works before and after these isolated occurances. The starter itself is fine, I pulled it off and looked at the solenoid and the wires and everything checks out. I am wondering if there is a wiring problem somewhere else in the harness, or if maybe the neutral indicator is damaged? If all else fails I will need to take it to a shop, but money is tight and I would love to be able to do this myself! Please let me know if you have any ideas!
