Yes, the LW 300 is not a PS printer. It's only a TT printer with the old standard 8-pins serial connector, and there are no ways of changing / connecting it to any kind of Ethernet / Ethernet bridge.... So this printer
is infact worthless together with the OS X in any version.
I'd hate to skip it, because it does just a very fine work, though it's only a 300dpi printer. It's quite a lot better than most 600dpi printers available today, - and it has only printed apprx. 10.000 pages...:-(. -
And sell it? - hrmpf... I'll only get about $50-60USd for it.
I've been thinking on this problem for quite long now, - and the Jaguar is still grinning at me here on my desktop.... - eeh... my writing table of course.... The 'solution' might be that I setup one of my older
machines - fx. a PM 7600 as a printer server, so I can use my other machines and let this 'oldie' do the print jobs for me. - But this will also require a true 100mbits network here, and for the moment I have enough to
use/spend my money to. - Fx. do I really need a new and big SCSI HD for my PM 9600/300, - a 1,2gb disk is too small when downloading or transfering large files.... - And ethernet based laserwriters are rather expensive
here in Denmark for a good quality printer like one of the new HP LaserJets. - apprx. $1500USd...:-(.
I find the new policy from Apple some kind of ridiculous, - they can make drivers for their old Laserwriter II series, but not for their Personal Laserwriters.... Until now Apple always have stated that any of their
printers can be used on any system, - but no! - now they just drop thousands and thousands of printer users with that policy.

There are two versions of printer files available in the
*MacHD>System>Library>Printers>PPDs>Contents>Resources* folder
However, I am sorry to have to report that there were no such printer files available for the LaserWriter 300.
I don't know why not but could it be that the LW 300 is not Ethernet compatible? I would assume that it is a Postscript printer because I suspect Apple would not support one which was not.
