The reason I see for doing a 'cd distro' of one chunk of software is to
make it an 'appliance'.

Some things make sense that way.

I like the idea of having a distro install for the 'un-initiaed' and where
it
makes sense, AND having the
'package' so it can integrate into my current 'desktop' or 'server' distro
that I prefer without having to deal with a lot of the menushia of
building from source.
