I do hear you, Doug.  I don't mind building a local repository from 
which I may install many systems - especially at installfest.

Yes and it has been a pain to deal with a six or seven CD install.  I'm 
being a bit of a Luddite not upgrading some of my kit to DVD readers and 
burners.  We had a bit of an issue June 20 as to which DVD media my 
older burner would accept.  Earlier comments about HD-DVD, BluRay, DVD, 
DVD+R, EIEIO and YMMV...  YKWIMV?

Such are topics I'd love to hear more about
- how do we use 8GB thumb drives
- Debian/Ubuntu installs over NFS (like we used to do with Mandrake)
- I have an Ubuntu mirror, now what?
