The $8.80/month plan would work for you if you have 11.8k students
(assuming 1 contact email per student), just make sure you don't mess up
your email or have to send a follow up on the same day to everyone I guess
:) . I looked at the google groups messaging limits and I don't think it
would work unless everyone in your group (that you're sending to) has a
gmail account, since it only allows 5k external recipients per group and a
total of 10k external recipients for a domain (unless you split up your
original mailing list across multiple domains and groups somehow) :
