It's a bad idea having a command default one way (and the manpage documenting that default), and then silently installing a hidden configuration override that changes the behaviour. sortm(1) states the default for 'msgs' is 'all'. Failure to read the documentation is not a bug in the command. There's nothing wrong with sortm's current default message list -- leave it alone. If you don't like the default behaviour, write your own wrapper script.
