I agree it is not surprising... but still I don't remember such
extremes before. The Parade debacle/Revolution break up? The "100
million dollar" (cuz it was never really that much) contract-slave
era? The post Emancipation/NPS divorce#1 era?

Hmmm well in all cases some really fascinating music did come out of
those times... Sign o the Times/Lovesexy from Parade fallout; The Gold
Experience from Slave fallout; and The Rainbow Children from NPS/Mayte
fallout.

Rumors are that he is recording again for another release... recent
sightings in MPLS support that theory if he's holed up at Paisley
Park... maybe we'll get some interesting stuff to follow this time.

Maybe 07 will be the next 04 ,which was the next 01/02 hahaha

just a few thoughts...

Why does this come as a surprise to everyone? He's been this way since
day one. We'll never get a repeat performance out of Prince. He's on top
of the world one year and then he makes himself disappear from the
mainstream public. He loves to explore music and change(all the time) and
unfortunately, it often becomes a detriment to his art (and music sales).

As far as the whole Tamar thing? However talented she may be, she's just
going to go down in the books as just another failed Prince protege. Sorry
Tamar lovers!

Imo, 3121 was not a great album, perhaps Prince realized it too?

<Moderator: 3121 has its moments, but as a whole its not a great album. I
can sight at 3 or 4 songs I really like. The title track not being one of
them I might add :-P -Derek>

Okay everyone, yeah looks like he's having a nervous breakdown, I think
that
with 2 failed marriages, and his business being shakey he's finally
realizing
all the money he's invested into projects that didn't pay off his well as
he
thought they would. Think back, Mayte's "Child of the Sun, we all know he
lost
money on Larry Graham's cd.
I don't know how many of the cd singles he did with Angie Stone sold, does
anyone have a clue. He bought that Beautiful place in Marbella for Mayte',
how
much did he re-coup from the sale of that. He Built the house in Canada
for
Mani, I know that cost a pretty penny. He did finance her business...so if
and
when the divorce goes through it's hers free and clear. He's always
improving on
Paisley Park, so as far as the land around there goes, that's a wait and
see.
The man may finally be looking at his books. Like an accountant, More
money
going out than coming in. That's my take on what's happening.

<Moderator: If he was worried about money I don't think he would be
flubbing a record deal. I swear I sometimes think he is trying to get
himself black listed in the Record Industry. -Derek>
