How important is your personal time to you? How many calls do they foresee you answering after hours? It all depends. I know some people who are on call and are never called, then again they are not compensated for being on call either. I know someone else who is compensated an extra 5K a year for being on call. He's called at least once a week, sometimes twice. Is it worth the 5K, for me it wouldn't be. The firm I consult with does everything based on maintenance contract. If the contract doesn't't cover after hours support we charge $300/hr. You would be "surprised" to see how quickly someone realizes a print job can wait until the next morning when they have to pay 300 bones, otherwise you would have been stuck going in simply to adjust a printer tray.

How much do you guys charge for carrying around a cell phone out of work and/or a beeper or something like that?
