It would probably be something like a call every once in a while about
something someone was doing wrong or how do I fix this type of problem.
No idea how often I would get called, but just having that capability was
what I thought would warrant cash.
We are a wholesaler so usually I would say it's not life and death.

There's a lot of "that depends" things,


Do you have the on call responsibility every week, or do you rotate it with
others?
Do you actually get called?
If you do get called, how often?
If you do get called, is it a real problem?
What's the business need?  
        If it's a hospital there's a need, if it's an auto parts company the
need sure looks  like it's a lot less.


I used to get 1 hour pay for every 4 hours of coverage outside of the normal
work schedule and 4 hours minimum extra to show up if I got called.  That
was quite a while back, I don't think that's too likely these days. It
wouldn't hurt to try for something like that though. ;')

carrying around a cell phone out of work and/or a beeper or something like
