What do most people do for backups instead of the SQL agents? We are
running SQL7 and have setup nightly backups using the SQL Database
Maintenance Wizard - I have restored from this backup on a second machine
and it seems ok - am I missing something?

Just to add a little to what is probably already a dead topic, (Oh well-
Sorry guys) I recently used v8.6 with SQL agents to backup and SUCCESSFULLY
restore a 220 GB database. Believe it or not, it actually worked. I did
have some issues with putting things in the correct state and the order in
which things were restored and such, but it worked, including the complete
restoration of ALL meta-databases. I had to rebuild the server this beast
was on because the folks who built it originally totally hosed it.

I know I'm probably the exception that makes the rule, but it did work for
me... eventually.

If it were just the SQL file in use it would be a different error message
and just skip the files.

Are you using a SQL agent? Otherwise, the SQL files would be in use
by SQL itself.

You could always backup database dumps...

Most people avoid the SQL agents, btw...
