According to Q2333313, the hidden shares do count. If you keep your use of
comments to a minimum, you likely won't have a problem, though.

I'm sorry you misinterpreted my question. I WANT to make hidden shares.
According to the Q article, too many shares causes problems with Win95. My
question is "do hidden shares count?"

Please, can you read the Q article? Q160807

Thanks,
Alex

I'd make all the home shares hidden. Why would you need to browse home
shares?

Browsing brings lots of interesting problems to the table, especially in a
WAN environment. We map drives, via logon script, and our users don't have
reason to do much browsing.

According to Q160807, Win95 has a hell of a time browsing or making a UNC
connection if there are more that 1000 shares. Are hidden shares reported to
the "list of shares?"

So in part of this migration from Novell I'm working on, we need to move all
the users' home directories. The 95 users need hidden shares I suppose.
Anyone have problems with too many hidden shares? (Will be about 1200 on
this server)
