yep.....I have a network with 31 workstations with a Windows 2k server. IP addresses are statically assigned - it has a LAN modem that 26 station can use to access the Internet. Whenever I assign an address above 192.168.1.29 that station can not see the server or any other network resource. I am using 255.255.255.224 subnet mask - I have verified that the subnet mask is the same on server and station - assign below 192.168.1.30 and all is well. Any hints?
hint: can't use all zeros and all ones........
the .224 subnet mask lets you create 32 addresses - minus the above two, minus your gateway
and ...voila! you are left with 29 usable addresses
