There is no way to guarantee an open file is in a consistent state. In other
words, it might successfully backup the file, but the restored file could
very easily be corrupt, and therefore unusable. This is especially likely
with things like Access databases and other binary file types. Word
documents aren't likely to be inconsistent, as the default for Word is to
append all changes to the end of the file.

Open File Agents are evil and should be avoided.
