It might be better to just wipe it and reinstall it so you have a clean SAM file, amongst other things. Unless you are trying to make it a stand alone machine and keep the user accounts at the same time. This way at least you know you've configured it right yourself, instead of leaving it to some third party product.

If so, there is no Microsoft-supported method for doing this. There is a 3rd-party tool, call U-Promote (www.u-tools.com), that will demote a BDC to a member server.
