Good idea, I'll call them -----Original Message----- From: Malcolm Reitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 9:36 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Removing NT BDC from Win2K domain
The ones I used it on were HP's with AMI (I think - it has been a while) RAID cards. Have you called the U-promote support? I asked them a bunch of questions before purchasing and they were pretty helpful. Has anyone used this tool "Upromote" on Compaq RAID (Configured as RAID 5) controller ? Currently when I tried to run it, it gave me a warning saying it may be unsafe to run this tool on Compaq RAID, there could be data loss. Thanks again for your great help. -----Original Message----- From: Mustafa Ibrahim [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 12:39 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Removing NT BDC from Win2K domain It might be better to just wipe it and reinstall it so you have a clean SAM file, amongst other things. Unless you are trying to make it a stand alone machine and keep the user accounts at the same time. This way at least you know you've configured it right yourself, instead of leaving it to some third party product. -----Original Message----- From: Gagrani, Kishore [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 11 June 2003 14:25 To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Removing NT BDC from Win2K domain Thanks Malcolm. I'll try that tool (any bad experiences trying that tool ?). -----Original Message----- From: Malcolm Reitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 9:25 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Removing NT BDC from Win2K domain Are you trying to turn a BDC into just a member server without reinstalling NT? If so, there is no Microsoft-supported method for doing this. There is a 3rd-party tool, call U-Promote (www.u-tools.com), that will demote a BDC to a member server. Can some one please help me to find or any directions ? Please ...
