The ones I used it on were HP's with AMI (I think - it has been a while)
RAID cards. Have you called the U-promote support? I asked them a bunch
of questions before purchasing and they were pretty helpful.

Yes , I understand the concern and thank you for the suggestion, but
this server is running an ERP system on it and re-installing the whole
configuration would be way too painful.

Has anyone used this tool "Upromote" on Compaq RAID (Configured as RAID
5) controller ? Currently when I tried to run it, it gave me a warning
saying it may be unsafe to run this tool on Compaq RAID, there could be
data loss.

Thanks again for your great help.

It might be better to just wipe it and reinstall it so you have a clean
SAM
file, amongst other things. Unless you are trying to make it a stand
alone
machine and keep the user accounts at the same time. This way at least
you
know you've configured it right yourself, instead of leaving it to some
third party product.

Thanks Malcolm. I'll try that tool (any bad experiences trying that tool
?).

Are you trying to turn a BDC into just a member server without
reinstalling NT? If so, there is no Microsoft-supported method for doing
this. There is a 3rd-party tool, call U-Promote (www.u-tools.com), that
will demote a BDC to a member server.

Hi all,

I was trying to search Microsoft KB for removing an NT 4 BDC from Win2K
domain but couldn't find anything (I'm sure there is an article but I'm
probably not entering a right search words) without a re-install of NT4.

Can some one please help me to find or any directions ? Please ...

Thank you so much,
Kishore
