The ones I used it on were HP's with AMI (I think - it has been a while) RAID cards. Have you called the U-promote support? I asked them a bunch of questions before purchasing and they were pretty helpful.

Unless you are trying to make it a stand alone machine and keep the user accounts at the same time. If so, there is no Microsoft-supported method for doing this. There is a 3rd-party tool, call U-Promote (www.u-tools.com), that will demote a BDC to a member server.
