We did have one issue with upgrading. 9.0 requires the new backup accelerator agent
that comes with 9.0 instead of the 8.6 agent. However, the 9.0 agent doesn't work
with NT. It works fine with 2000.

Subject: Backup Exec 8.6 upgrade 9.0 proves deadly to backups

Has anyone had any experience with upgrading from 8.6 to 9.0? I have
recently done this and have had nothing but problems. The remote agents
were a challenge to install. Once I got them installed backups and restores
speeds can range anywhere from 100MB per minute to less than 1MB, from one
day to the next. Server backups will work for a few days and then just stop
working. BEX8.6 was working very well. But, BEX9.0 has been nothing but a
headache.. I have had our network admin look for any network issue and he
saw nothing.

Any other experiences?

Debra
