This is a unfortunate reality with unmanaged switches and many nics. In addition to other suggestions, confirm all apps are shutdown, even background apps in the system tray. Then use extended - giant ping packets (> 1500k) to confirm if it's a nic throughput issue, or something at an upper layer. Ping's really good here as it's a lightweight app. If you see odd data patterns in return time and packet loss you still have a layer 2 issue (duplex mismatch, etc).
E.g. C:\ping -t -l 2000 "IP address on same subnet" Might also be worth buying a $50 8 port switch, just to confirm the integrity of this port/switch. And read my other posts on the subject. The fact that it's an unmanaged switch means there's little chance it will ever do full duplex. I haven't seen anything, including Cisco's, do full duplex autonegotiation well. -------------------------------------------------------------- Roger D.
