Don't know if you noticed, but as of yesterday, SUS does support service
packs.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/windowsupdate/sus/default.asp

"Software Update Services now provides Windows service packs (SPs), in
addition to critical and security updates. SUS will deliver Windows XP SP1,
Windows 2000 SP4, and all future service packs for Windows 2000, Windows XP,
and the Windows Server 2003 family of products."

Major drawback to SUS is that it can't deploy service packs.

We've recently evaluated these products:

SUS - Free, but doesn't support service packs

GFI LanGuard - $900 for unlimited IP, not a complete solution as it needs
SUS for patch management. Has other security features though.

UpdateExpert - $2000 for 150 machines. Complete solution, but seems buggy.
Not impressed with tech support. More difficult to learn and use than...

HFNetChk Pro - $3000 for 150 machines. Best support, best interface. Most
expensive.

We selected HFNetChk Pro.
