Brings back memories of when I was asked to go and 'fix' a One-Per-Desk device
that BT had supplied to the councillors at a local authority.

The systems and phone links had been provided free by their 'Marketing' without
any discussion with IT support.

The device had 'locked-up' with a coms link error and the users last 4 hours
work (adding crucial technical detail to a critical speech) was lost.

Well at least that put paid to BT's bypassing the IT staff incursion attempt.

Seems like a trial is needed with an appropriately busy and influential staff
member
And the volunteer accepted for the trial from his equipment desk, laptop,
tablet, iphone, etc. is ...

And you will be selecting an appropriate time to be testing the uplink for the
equivalent loading on another 15 devices!

I told him. He seems to think this is a good idea. The Internet connection
has (does occasionally) have issues that they installed a second line from a
different provider for just that reason. In a rural area here in Arizona.

Does he have any idea how long a full backup to a cloud backup provider
takes? I'll bet he doesn't have fiber and has various speeds of
connectivity. It takes me weeks to dribble up a large backup.
