We had a fairly major battle about this on MVP lists recently (in regards to
servers).

The "official word" was: Don't use IE on a server. Use WSUS or SMS or
transfer the patch files and build your patch scripts.

Me, personally, I found the response to be a load of crapola.

I would expect they are going to get hit with a backlash about this.
Especially from people that only want to access downloads/kb/technet.
I would hope those sites components could be kept Silverlight-free.

I dont install flash on my servers, and I certainly wont install
silverlight.  For ditch-effort downloads direct to my servers for when
something goes wrong in the night etc, this is going to make a big
extra set for me if I have to download to another system first.

I hope someone from Microsoft is lurking.
