Frankly, yes.  Few alternatives:

Add a workstation to the server room.
Repurpose an existing server as a workstation.
Use a VM as a workstation.

I have the bad habit of running to my server room, and using the server to 
download some update that is needed. When I'm in the server room, there is no 
workstation for me, just the servers.

So, should I RDP back to my desktop, download the file, then move it back to 
the server? If this is the suggested practice, it is a little... odd. Sm:)e.
