Thanks for responding. Here is Robycopy command used:
Robocopy K:\ D:\ /E /COPYALL /MIR /W:1 /NP /Log+:C:\Robustcopy.log

Xcopy command was:
xcopy K:\Vid* D:\ /O /X /E /H /K /C /I /Q /Y

Even after C: and D: were invisible, robocopy kept working -- as seen in its 
command window, and in task manager.

The sourse directory or disk is compressed. Is any shortcut a reparse point?
