We have it in place but disabled by default. Should an investigation be warrented Security/HR must approve enabling it. Currently we do not have external IM connectivity for a variety of historical reasons enabled anymore, but eventually we will. Anyone who will be enabled for external IM connectivity will have to sign off on knowing their communciation is archived in case a compliance review is needed later. It's not often you get to deploy something that changes a way your company commuicates so really, it's fun.
