For the last year I have been using the Cingular 8525 - made by HTC and very
similar to the 6700. For the most part been very happy with it. Lately I
have been using the phone more and have been running out of battery during
the day and having to throw it on a charger someplace - either in the car or
on the laptop at a client site. The bluetooth headset is pretty stable but
the phone shuts it off occasionally so that is mildly annoying at times. I
do use the MS apps from time to time and that is a good fit. My biggest
complaint is the ActiveSync fails on a regular basis and I have to delete
the pointers that link them and start the whole sync process over again. I
ran Palm stuff for over 10 years and never had sync problems - digitizer
problems yes - but never sync issues.
I received a text recently indication that I could upgrade to WM6 from the
WM5 that came with my 8525. Indications are that it is a one-way trip and
that if it fails you have to send it in to get it restored. Any truth to
that? Has anyone done that upgrade or is there a better way. WM5 has been
fine and I haven't learned of any items in WM6 that make me in a hurry to do
an iffy upgrade. Just my couple of pennies.
