But if PCs are new they have to rejoin so they don't need the old ost that
will be recreated (if they migrated the content to exchange 2007). Otherwise
the best is to convert to pst before migration and import it

The OST is mail profile specific.

SO, since the PC’s are new, the profile won’t match the OST.

Most likely that won’t work.

You might try migrating their entire user profile from their old computers
to new.

Another option would be to build their computers at HQ and setup their
profiles there so the mail can sync on the local LAN then ship them. At that
point all the user would have to do is sync new mail since they were
shipped.

Hello,

We are going to perform a new PC rollout in our company (± 450 users, 4
sites). Currently we are using Outlook 2003 with OST files, and we are going
to migrate to Outlook 2007.

We are going to do an installation from scratch (new PCs). The problem we
have is, that our Exchange servers (located at head quarters) are connnected
through slow 2mbit WANs. So even if we only do a couple of migrations a day,
per site, this would easily saturate the WAN connections.

Is it possible to reuse the Outlook 2003 OST file in Outlook 2007, without
performing an in-place upgrade ?

With best regards,

Jelle
