As of last month, all of the protocols are public. Now, I guess, Microsoft
does have to compete on the merits, eh what?

  The Windows source is probably more accessible because a big chunk
of it was stolen from Microsoft a few years ago.  ;-)  You can still
find it floating around in the disreputable corners of the net.  Or so
I'm told... ;-)
