What hardware? And, if you're buying hardware (I'm assuming a
GPS-connected time source), where are you going to put it in your
network?

Hardware like that is usually put on the a router or backbone switch,
though sometimes it's placed on its own network jack and given an IP
address.

Regardless of the above, something on your network, whether it's the
router, switch or time source hardware itself, will have an IP address
and you will simply point your DC at it, just as if it were out in the
world, past your firewall.
