Hmm... interesting. I could have sworn I'd scanned stuff into PDF documents
before and then searched 'em, but I guess not... I just tried something on
our "scans" folder on the server and it was exactly what you said would
happen.

  Something has to run OCR against the scanned image and add the
computer text equivalent.  Otherwise the PDF is just a big image to
the computer.  You can search it, but it won't find anything.  :-)
