I have never used the 1016, only the 4000 and 5000 series, as well as the CPC-22C-M and the recently leased TaskAlfa. I personally liked the 4050s we had before we upgraded to the 5050s, but the 5050s also have some new features that are nice, such as scanning in color. J
What we do here for scanning is we have a limited ActiveDirectory user which we use to log into a shared folder on the file server. We only have about 3 or 4 shares (a couple "public" shares and then a couple restricted "admin" scanning folders) so it's not a big deal for us.
