Oh, I'm not touching my Exchange server! :-)
But I've got some plain-vanilla servers that just handle DNS/DC-type tasks that I was looking to upgrade. I'm particularly interested in the DHCP filtering capabilities in R2; they're not impenetrable, but they'll provide an easy way for us to tighten down our network a bit. Exchange 2007 for instance.. isn't currently supported on R2 at all, and this would probably also fall under the MS decree of "don't upgrade the underlying OS on a functional Exchange Server" Paul G. -----Original Message----- From: Sean Rector [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 23 November 2009 14:35 To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Upgrade from Server 2008 to 2008 R2 I've had no problems with in-place upgrades to R2. If so, what were your experiences? I've Google'd this and have found less information that I expected. The consensus seems to be that it should work if the stars are properly aligned. The key is you need to already be running the 64-bit version of 2008; you can't jump from 32-bit to 64-bit.
