Depends on the client needs. You can use stuff like Loadrunner if it's pretty high-end, or you can just test them manually with performance monitor counters, stopwatches and the like if you are just after some quick and dirty stats.
Either way, it pays to have an idea of what performance users are going to see when you push things live. Ideally in relation to the previous method of operation.
