Maybe my math is fuzzy...

But $14,000 USD for houdini (yes, you have to pay for support in your first
year) is no where near the $7,200USD price quoted on the Foundry's website to
me
moments ago (support is included in the first year - yay!) for a floating NukeX
seat.

As an owner of a small Houdini-based shop, I must have taken this a little bit
more personally then I should have ;)

Best,

G

ps: Yes, Houdini does ship with a node based compositor. Has for many
versions. Does not read DPX files. Need I say more?!

NukeX is almost 8k USD, I think.
A node-locked Houdini Master is about 7k USD. A floating is 10k USD.

Or you could get a Houdini Escape which is 3k USD floating (and does
include a node-based compositor btw).

I think however you spin it, Randy does have a point. ;)
