Right so basically I have worked out that I don't know what I am talking about.
We have been using the correct units all the time. The problem is that Nuke
does not like working in real world scale. What I mean by this is, if I take a
scene from 3d and add say a preset particle setup to it, they are only tiny in
the scene and if you scale them up nuke grinds to a halt. So the obvious
solution it to scale the scene down. Here is the problem. On the particular
shot I was working on I had to sale the camera down to .01. Really small. If
you add and axis to the camera and do this the particles break, you just get a
few pixels here and there. So I assumed that this was not going to work. But
the I tried scaling the camera with an expression it the translate and it
worked a treat. So there appears to be some sort of bug with adding an axis to
a camera.
