Hi Nicholas,

Your last comment sums up the problem perfectly: "So it would be nice to
have something that allows us to directly jump into exploring those venues
rather than be bogged down with topics are more developer/programmer-guru
oriented."

This is a big problem for the NuPIC community which we are struggling hard
to address. Marek is leading the charge to make a NuPIC which just builds
on every common system, but as you can see from all the build-related
threads on this list, we have a way to go.

Just an idea based on my 22 years of mucking around on Linux: is there
something like ./configure that we can use to query a user's system and
identify the steps required to ensure a good build? Surely there's a finite
process which can be developed to avoid all the hassle?

In the meantime, Nicholas, welcome to the community and please be assured
we'll do what we can to help you get up and running.

Regards,

Fergal Byrne
