ROSEATE SPOONBILL WOOD STORK BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCK PIPING PLOVER WILSON’S PHALAROPE SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER SANDERLING STILT SANDPIPER WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER SANDERLING RED-HEADED WOODPECKER SEDGE WREN CERULEAN WARBLER GRASSHOPPER SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ The BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCKS, the ROSEATE SPOONBILL and the WOOD STORK have all lingered this week at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. All three were seen yesterday but so far only the Spoonbill was seen today. 8/4: A SEDGE WREN was found at the south end of East Road. 16 species of Shorebirds including WILSON’S PHALAROPE, BOTH DOWITCHERS, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, SANDERLING AND STILT SANDPIPER were all seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 8/5: The WILSON’S PHALAROPE and the WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER were relocated at Knox-Marsellus. A STILT SANDPIPER was found on the Wildlife Trail. Onondaga County ------------ 8/3: A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen at the south end of Onondaga Lake. 8/6: An ORCHARD ORIOLE and a GRASSHOPPER were seen at Green akes State Park. 8/7: A CERULEAN WARBLER was seen and photographed on the Baldwinsville Community Trail. Oswego County ------------ PIPING PLOVERS continue at the Sandy Pond Outlet area. 8/4: 9 Shorebird species including 3 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were seen at the Sandy Pond Outlet. 8/8: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at Derby Hill and another was spotted at the Deer Creek Marsh near Rainbow Shores Road on Lake Ontario. 8 species of Shorebirds including BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were seen at the Sandy Pond Outlet. 8/9: 5 Raptor species were seen in flight at Derby Hill.this birds are thought to be young birds in dispersal and not yet migrating.
