BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON ROSEATE SPOONBILL LEAST BITTERN EURASIAN WIGEON PEREGRINE FALCON AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER RUDDY TURNSTONE STILT SANDPIPER BAIRD’S SANDPIPER RED KNOT WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER SANDERLING SWALLOW-TAILED KITE (Extralimital) WHIP-POOR-WILL RED-HEADED WOODPECKER YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER PHILADELPHIA VIREO CLAY-COLORED SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ The WOOD STORK hasn’t been seen since 8/17. The ROSEATE SPOONBILL is still with us and was seen yesterday at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 8/27: A LEAST BITTERN was seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 8/28: An EURASIAN WIGEON was seen in Knox-Marsellus. Also seen were 7 species of Shorebirds including a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER. The WIGEON and the Dowitcher were relocated on the 28th. 8/29: 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen at Knox-Marsellus. A LITTLE BLUS HERON (immature) was found at South Spring Pond. Cayuga County ------------ 8/28: A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen at Sterling Nature Center. 8/29: 3 SANDERLINGS and 2 BAIRD’S SANDPIPERS were seen at Fair Haven State Park. Onondaga County ------------ 8/23: A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was again seen at the Marshy Spits south of the Honeywell Center on the west shore of Onondaga Lake.A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen on Harris Road near Fabius. 8/24: A BAIRD’S SANDPIPER and 2 RED KNOTS were found at Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton. One of the Knots continued to the 28th. 8/25: An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was seen at the Marshy Spits on Onondaga Lake. 8/27: A WHIP-POOR-WILL was heard on Potter Road in Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. Oswego County ------------ This week 15 Shorebird species including RED KNOT, SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, RUDDY TURNSTONE and BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were all seen at the Outlet of Sandy Pond on Lake Ontario. NOT reported this week were PIPING PLOVER at this location. 8/25: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen on North Ramona Beach Road south of Selkirk State Park on Lake Ontario. 8/29: A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen at Oswego Harbor. Madison County ------------ 8/23: 3 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at Woodman Pond north of Hamilton. 8/24: A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW and a PHILADELOHIA VIREO were seen on Peterson Hollow Road near Erieville. 8/28: 7 Shorebird species including a BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were seen on Ditchbank Road north of Canastota. Oneida County ------------ A RED HEADED WOODPECKER continues at Lakeshore Road on the north east corner of Oneida Lake. Extralimital ------------ A SWALLOW-TAILED KITE, reported last week west of Penn Yan in Yates County continues to be seen. It was seen again Yesterday.
