GLOSSY IBIS ROSEATE SPOONBILL EURASIAN WIGEON AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER SANDERLING WESTERN SANDPIPER BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER STILT SANDPIPER BAIRD’S SANDPIPER RED KNOT WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER RED-NECKED PHALAROPE SWALLOW-TAILED KITE (Extralimital) COMMON NIGHTHAWK SAW-WHET OWL RED-HEADED WOODPECKER YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER PHILADELPHIA VIREO GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER DICKCISSEL LARK SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ The ROSEATE SPOONBILL continues to be present at Knox-Marsellus Pool through today. 9/9: An EURASIAN WIGEON was seen at Knox-Marsellus Pool. 9/10: 11 species of Shorebirds including a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER were seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 9/11: A SAW-WHET OWL was heard near Knox-Marsellus Marsh just after midnight. A LARK SPARROW was seen from Rt.89 near the Pure Functional Plant. 11 species of shorebirds including a STILT SANDPIPER were seen at Muckrace Flats in the northern complex. 9/12: 13 species of Shorebirds including 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, 12 STILT SANDPIPERS, 5 BAIRD’S SANDPIPERS, 4 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS and both DOWITCHERS were seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. Also heard was a DICKCISSEL. A GLOSSY IBIS was found at the visitor’s Center. A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was seen on the Wildlife Drive. Onondaga County ------------ 9/6: A STILT SANDPIPER was seen at Oneida shores park in Brewerton. 9/7: 12 species of warblers including Wilson’s, CAPE MAY and BAY-BREASTED were seen at Oneida Shores. Also seen was a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER. A LINCOLN’S SPARROW was seen on Bardeen Road in Fabius. 9/8: YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS were seen on Conners Road south of Baldwinsville and Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse. 9/9: A WESTERN SANDPIPER was found at Oneida Shores Park and has been seen through the 12th. A PECTORAL SANDPIPER was seen there also. 9/11: A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen at Oneida Shores Park. A late COMMON NIGHTHAWK was seen from the West Shore Trail On Onondaga Lake. Oswego County ------------ 9/9: A GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was seen on Hinman Road north of Pulaski. 2 RED KNOTS continue at the Outlet of Sandy Pond on Lake Ontario. 9/11: At the outlet of Sandy Pond 12 species of Shorebirds including BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, RUDDY TURNSTONE, RED KNOT, STILT SANDPIPER and BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were seen. Also seen in the area was a PHILADELPHIA VIREO. 9/12: The WESTERN SANDPIPER at Oneida Shores was observed in flight over Oneida Lake making it in Oswego County. 9/13: A possible extremely rare SNOWY PLOVER was found at the outlet to Sandy Pond. More information still coming. Cayuga County ------------ 9/9: 2 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were seen at Fair Haven State Park. Madison County ------------ 9/6: An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at Sullivan Town Park in Chittenango. 9/9: A GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen at Woodman Pond north of Hamilton. Oneida County ------------- 910: An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at a residence north of waterville. 9/11: 9 Warbler species and 2 PHILADELPHIA VIREOS were seen at Spring Farm Nature Sanctuary south of clinton. 9/12: 2 GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERS were seen at Sherrill Brook Park south of Utica. Herkimer County ---------------- 9/6: An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at a private residence in Salisbury Corners. Extralimital ------------ The SWALLOW-TAILED KITE found west of Penn Yan in Yates County is still present. It was seen today on Briggs Road. Another sighting of a SWALLOW-TAILED KITE with a photo was in Cortland County on Rt. 221 about a mile east of Marathon.
