Yep. If you've decided to move then this may not be an issue. And tbh I would not expect hugely different optimisation settings for drupal or Joomla in a mass-hosted environment, or that your issues are due to some joomlaism in their setup.

Does drupal function if you remove the .htaccess in your drupal root?
