i am inclined to mark this as blocker for the 1.2.0 release. it's
not a new regression. i suspect though that we already had
some reports like ('it only works if i use admin' or 'the item def
is somehow broken) that we couldn't properly reproduce up to now.
thanks to marius and tommaso who spotted an oddity in the xml-import
containing ac policies, we were able to identify the root cause
today.
i will attach to proposed fix to the issue right now so everyone
can take a look and make an educated guess on whether this is
considered a change too risky to be included in the release.
