Just got back to Ottawa after 7 years away, trying to find fast group rides in
the area. Did the OBC 100K "reliability" ride with the first group last Sunday and it
was the type of ride I am looking for. Unfortunately my fast bikes are in storage and
I had to use my 30 pound department store bike I bought in 1973, man I got my 5
dollars worth on that ride!!!

I have done mostly group riding and rallies with USCF cat 3/4 riders. Riding in Ottawa
seems great, very bike friendly and oriented compared to Dallas Texas. There appear to
be riders everywhere but no groups other that Sundays OBC, have asked several riders
about this and they usually give me blank stare and mention checking out the OBC.
While in Dallas I went car-less for a year, still had a choice of 12 various large to
small group rides every week within 10 miles of home, generally I was riding 4 to 5
times for an average of 200-240 miles per week.
I still belong to the Greater Dallas Bicyclists club, and used to lead a Wednesday
evening medium to fast training ride, would like something like that in Ottawa.

When I started back into riding several years ago I used to ride alone, you know
the story "it builds character", but after a while I discovered riding in groups. It
could have been the nature of riding in Dallas with it's high number of racers or the
safety factor groups provided from the red-necks, I found it's way more INTERESTING
and CHALLENGING.

Checked out all the links on the OBC web page and none help.

Any ideas???

Thanks,
Brian
