Thanks to all responses,

The Saturday "Barrhaven Express" at 120K and 9:30am sounds good, I'll try it
this weekend hope it isnt just paceline work, I like some attacks with
breaks to be chased down.

I have done some USCF racing in 1999-2001 but lately I decided it was to
dangerous for me, people taking huge chances and mass sprints at 35+ with
crashes make you question what you are doing. Never had the basic talent to
do very well in racing so I just like to have fun, previously doing fast
non-organized group rides of 50-100 riders (in Dallas they are races) did
the trick.

Avery, on the Sunday ride I was severely disadvantaged with my 1973
department store special, the only good thing I can say about that bike is
it's comfortable, my drilled out steel seat post didnt seem to help....
Around 2/3 or 3/4 of the way through the ride the big motors decided to make
things tougher, the guttering cross wind with some small rollers did me in,
think I got a 2:46 time.
As for my fast bikes, well I am a complete and total retro dude, my best
racing bike is a 1989 Schwinn Paramount with friction down tube shifters.
The lack of STI does hurt in a racing environment, when the boys decide to
go you are often left reaching for more gears.

I will be joining the OBC this Sunday since I believe supporting the local
bike club is good for local cycling in general. In Dallas I belonged to the
GDB but since they were so slow only rode with them as recovery or on
special events.

See you on the road,
Brian

Sunday and it was the type of ride I am looking for. Unfortunately my fast
bikes are in storage and I had to use my 30 pound department store bike I
bought in 1973, man I got my 5 dollars worth on that ride!!!

If not a member already, join the club and ride one of the Sportif groups
on Sunday morning. If you want to compete, there are Tuesday evening crits
at the NRC run by Ross Knight/Seenite Sports and our Thursday night Open
Time Trials. Also some members race the Quebec vet series. There are lots
of informal groups in the area out on training runs. On Tuesday nights
there is an informal race in the Gatineau Park that leaves from the
Gamelin parking lot around 6pm.

BTW, did you finish with the first group last Sunday? :-) and what's a fast
bike?
